Timing

Proverbs 27:14 "If you shout a pleasant greeting to your neighbor too early in the morning, it will be counted as a curse!"

Timing is everything.  I need to pay attention to my timing.  If I am too early or too late I may miss out on something big God has in store for my life.  And ultimately, I need to listen to God's timing in all things.  I have to allow him to set the clock in my life!

Too Much Honey

Proverbs 25:27 "Just as it is not good to eat too much honey, it is not good for people to think about all the honors they deserve."

Too much honey can make you sick and maybe add a few pounds.  Too much pride can make you spiritually sick and maybe lose a few friends. 

Hot Air

Proverbs 14:23 "Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty!" 

Talk is cheap and our world is full of big talkers!  Burning fossil fuels didn't cause global warming, our hot air did!  Everywhere I turn someone is talking up a storm claiming to know something they probably know nothing about.  This verse teaches me that talk leads nowhere, but good hard work brings me something.  That sounds good to me and makes sense.  Today, I'll talk less, and hustle a little more. 

Honesty is the Best Policy

Proverbs 11: 5 "The godly are directed by their honesty; the wicked fall beneath their load of sin."

I'd like to be "directed by my honesty."  I don't know that I am all the time.  I don't struggle with  lying or anything but oftentimes, I feel like I sugarcoat the truth, or refrain from speaking truth when I know I should.  I need God to help me be honest in all circumstances, whether it is comfortable or not!

Remember

Proverbs 7:3 "Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart."

We are forgetful creatures us humans.  And God knows this.  So he instructs to do whatever it takes to remember his teachings and commands.  Whether it means writing them down in our hearts, attaching them to our fingers, or making a note in our smart phones, we are to remember!
