My Story

My name is Jake Kerschner and I am a Bible teacher at Maranatha Christian Academy.  Prior to teaching, I spent 17 years in full time church ministry at Crossroads Church in Cottage Grove, MN.  My wife Erin is the CEO of The Little School, a daycare/preschool in St. Paul's Highland Park neighborhood.  We have been married since 2002 and have two children, Ellie and Jack.

My interests include; teaching,  scripture, Disney World, traveling, kayaking, fishing, reading and hanging with my family.

This blog is designed to chronicle my daily devotions. As I read through the Bible, I pick one verse of scripture that sticks out to me, make some observations about what's contained in the text, and contemplate how it applies to my life.

The title "The Grand Story" captures what I believe to be the essence of scripture.  The Bible is God's word and his story as revealed to past generations.  The story has a Hollywood beginning, dynamic characters, a tragic plot, a terrible villain, hero like no other, and a story of redemption for us all.  And the great news is the story is not complete.  What began at "in the beginning" continues with you and I.  How will the story end?  What role will we play?  What do the final chapters hold?  To answer these questions, we must begin with the first 66 chapters of The Grand Story.
