Matt. 6:22 "The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light."
Jesus is teaching and he says that our eyes are the lamps of our bodies. If they are good, our whole body, our entire life will be full of light.
As one of our five senses, our sight through our eyes is one way we receive information. As a man I am a very visual creature. I rely on my eyes for everything. Daily I am bombarded visually by millions of images. I do have a choice as to what I look at and view. And I have to remember that I have a choice in this. I can choose to look at beautiful, pure and holy things, or I can choose to look at ugly, filthy and dark things. What I look at, I take into my body and into my life. These images become memories and begin to form who I am. I must be very careful and wise at to what I allow in to my lamps.
Dear Jesus, help me to have pure eyes who only see light. Amen.
