Fraud

Isaiah 29:13 "The Lord says: 'These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.  Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men.'"

Isaiah is sharing a warning for the people of Jerusalem-God's people.  He says many of them honor God with their lips, but their hearts are far away from God.

It's so easy to let worship become routine.  It's too easy to allow prayer to become a ritual.  God wants us to do the right things with our eyes, our ears, and our lips, but mostly he wants our hearts.  He doesn't want empty words and worship from me.  How often I am real and authentic with Jesus?  Are my words empty?  Is my heart right?  Today I need to make my lips match my heart and be real.

Dear Jesus, help me not be a fraud today.  Amen.
