2 Corinthians 4:8-9 "We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don't give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going."
Paul writes to the followers of Jesus in Corinth and gives them a dose of reality. He tells them that following Jesus is difficult. They will have their hardships, persecutions and sufferings. But, they can withstand it all because Jesus is with them. Paul says "God never abandons us."
Life is tough. Following Jesus can be tough. There are days I do feel crushed, perplexed, hunted, and knocked down! But Paul gives me this promise. He gives us this hope. While we are being pressed, crushed, perplexed, hunted and knocked down, we can keep going. We will not be broken, we will not give up, and we will not quit because we have Jesus on our side. He gives us the strength to keep going. We don't have that strength on our own but Jesus himself provides that. Where we are weak, he is strong. So where I am weak today? In what ways am I being pressed, crushed and hunted? I need to give that away to Jesus today. He can handle it. I'll just keep going and follow him.
Dear Jesus, thank you for always being with me. Help me keep up the good fight. Amen.
