Deut. 18:9 "...do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there."
God is creating a nation. He has rescued his people from Israel and is now bringing them to the promised land. On their journey, he is giving them their culture and forming their identity. He hands them their traditions, moral code, celebrations, and practices. He wants them to be set apart for him. He wants them to be different from the nations they encounter and will be surrounded by.
How am I different? Do I actually live my life in a way that is distinguishable from culture? I don't want to be different for difference sake, but rather to be set apart to be used by God and for his purposes.
God, help me to be set apart for you and your will in my life. Amen.
