Once And For All

Hebrews 9:14 "How much more then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God."

Jesus' sacrifice was so superior to those the priests used to make. Jesus was the perfect lamb and his sacrifice has once and for all cleansed our consciences and wiped the slate clean. He did in one act, what thousands of other acts could not. He once and for all conquered sin and death for us.

This is such great news! We no longer have our sin and guilt hanging over us. We don't have to continually offer sacrifices to atone for our sins. Now I can trust solely in Jesus for my forgiveness. This is good news!

Dear Jesus, thank you! Amen.

My Best Friend T-Rex

Isaiah 8:13-14 "The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, He is the one you are to fear, He is the one you are to dread, and He will be a sanctuary."

Isaiah is telling the Israelites they are to fear God alone. He is the one who is holy. Isaiah also mentions that He will be a sanctuary.

I just found it interesting that we are to fear God and in fact dread Him, yet He is our sanctuary. That is a difficult thing to comprehend. How can God be a sanctuary if He is so fearful and dreadful? I guess a sanctuary is a safe place. Is there any more of a safe place than in the presence of the most fearful and dreadful being in existence? I guess I'm glad He is on my side. Who can harm you if everyone fears and dreads Him? It's like having a T-Rex as a best friend!

Dear Jesus, help me to fear and dread your power and yet still see you as my sanctuary. Amen.

Best Priest Ever!

Heb. 7:25 "Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them."

Jesus is being compared to Melchizedek. The author (likely Paul) is making the argument that Jesus is our high priest-in fact he is the ultimate high priest. There is no need for any other priest because Jesus continually intercedes on our behalf. He is able to do completely what former priests (and current ones) could only do in part. He saves us and justifies us completely.

My hope needs to continually remain in Jesus. My salvation and righteousness do not come through good works, rituals or religion-they comes through Jesus. He is my high priest who intercedes on my behalf before the father.

Dear Jesus, please intercede for me each day. I need you! Amen.
