Matthew 7:3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?"
Jesus is teaching people to not be hypocrites. He tells them that they should be careful when pointing out sin in others and take more time to see the sin in their own lives. The Pharisees were really good at this.
How judgmental am I? How often am I looking at the specks in others? I don't think I have a huge problem with this, but I have to admit, I probably do spend more time noticing other people specks than I do reflecting on my own. I really have been bothered by other people's rudeness lately. So, am I rude? I guess I can be. I don't think Jesus was always Mr. Niceguy we always think but I don't think he was ever rude to people for no reason. I need to work on being kind and polite today and maybe cut some people some slack.
Dear Jesus, help me to treat others with respect today and not be rude. Amen.
