Psalm 73:26 "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
This psalm by Asaph, one of the three choir leaders of the Levitical choir shows man's weakness and God's strength. Asaph's body and heart may fail, but it doesn't matter because God is his strength and "portion."
I need God to be my strength and portion today. I need to rely on him more and more. These first four days of my sabbatical have kicked my butt! My flesh is literally failing. I've worked too hard and have rested too little. Tomorrow I head to Colorado to rest. No work to be done. I'll be reading, hiking, praying, and resting. I will finally let God be my strength and my portion...for five days. After that, who will I be and how will I do with this?
Dear Jesus, thank for for the productive start to my sabbatical. Now please help me rest. Amen.
