Noah and the Flood

1 Peter 3:21 "And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience.  It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ."

The flood was a great story of faith and perseverance by Noah and his family.  It also was a foreshadowing of the saving work of Jesus.  Just as God rescued and saved Noah's family, Jesus has saved all those who trust in him.  And to symbolize this, we are dunked in water and raised in new life.  The baptism itself does nothing, it is rather the power of Christ behind it that saves us.  At the end of the day, Noah and his family were given a new life, new opportunity and a new day.  Jesus offers us the same.  Today I am grateful for new beginnings, fresh starts and a new life because of Christ!
