Job 32:8 "But it is the spirit in a man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding."
Job and his three friends have gone back and forth debating the nature of Job's situation. Elihu has been watching from the sidelines and now decides to speak up. He's held back his comments out of respect for his elders. But now, he speaks and claims true understanding and wisdom comes from God.
Elihu is on to something here. He understands where truth and wisdom come from. They do not come from us, and they do not come with age. God alone gives us these gifts. Do I lean too much on my wisdom and what I think I have? Do I daily recognize that God is bigger than me? How can I limit myself and make God greater today?
Dear Jesus, help me trust in your understanding and your truth today. Amen.
